What type of dress were you originally looking for when you started dress shopping? Did you end up with something similar or completely different?
I was shopping for a dress that was sparkly and embellished . I knew I wanted a dress that was fitted yet modest. I wanted something that did not over exaggerated since I am petite. I quickly learned that sparkly and embellished was over my budget and did not really suit my style. I thought I wanted an extravagant shiny dress and I ended up with a lace dress with a touch of sparkle and I couldn't be happier
Tell us about your experience at Bride To Be Couture. What was your favorite part?
I made an appointment and arrived with my best friend of 16 years, I was greeted by Erin who would later help me find the dress that suited me best. I stepped outside to grab something from my car and my friend Annmarie described what I was looking for to Erin, as I came inside Erin was already on the hunt for my dress. She came back with options that I loved. The first dress I tried was a strong contender, I tried on a few dresses before I had to go back to the first one I tried on. It complemented my figure, age, style and dress code as I wear Hijab (headscarf). It was very delicate and dainty which I loved. It was just missing a little sparkle. Erin helped me with different belt options until I tried one on that suited my dress perfectly. Next, I had to choose my veil. I knew I wanted something that would compliment my hijab without looking awkward. I tried on a few options that were not exactly what I had in mind since I wanted a veil with a train. Erin suggested a beautiful cape they had in store which also served as a train. The lace matched my dress perfectly, I experimented a few different ways of styling the cape but my look wasn't quite there yet. Then I thought what if I used the cape as my veil? I tried it and it worked perfectly and Erin quickly saw my vision she helped me pin it and found material that I could use to see what it would look like with Hijab and I was sold!
How did you know that you found “the dress”
Its just like finding "the one" when you know you know. My best friend was on board and I received confirmation from Erin's coworkers and the store owner.
Do you have any advice for brides that are at the beginning of their dress shopping journey?
My advice is know that there is a dress out there for you. Make sure you give yourself at least 6 months for the process. Keep in mind your budget, venue style, and of course your personal style!
